This is paragraph text that is quite longer and we really don't know.
CPE programs are intended to assist clergy, candidates for ministry, and pastoral care workers to develop a pastoral identity as well appropriate skills in the delivery of pastoral care.
CPE courses are "clinical" insofar as the participants engage in pastoral ministry under supervision. This experiential process follows the guidelines of the Handbook of the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC). All the teaching staff/supervisors listed on this web site are certified by CASC. The relationship to to CASC assures participants of quality programs and a process that has stood the test of over five decades in Canada.
Persons interested in knowing more about the teaching centres and their respective supervisors are encouraged to contact the centre by telephone or e-mail. Supervisors are happy to discuss their respective programs with prospective students and explain the specific aspects of their programs as they may contribute to the requirements and purposes of the inquiring participant.
The supervisors listed are Adjunct Faculty with the Pastoral Department, Toronto School of Theology, University of Toronto. Theological colleges recommend Clinical Pastoral Education as an integral part of theological education. Some congregations and church bodies offer pastors, chaplains, and church workers sabbatical time and financial aid for further education.
All CPE participants must also apply to and register through a TST member school. Students who are already enrolled within a TST program should communicate with their program director to determine whether a CPE units fits within their program. Some colleges permit the courses to be taken as a Field Education experience, others restrict it to a course in the Pastoral Department of Toronto School of Theology.
All students are granted TST credit for successfully completed units (each unit is equivalent to two TST courses, or 1.0 credit).
The CPE courses offered by CSOCR are listed in the Toronto School of Theology Calendar as TSP3551Y (CPE Basic 1), TST3552Y (CPE Basic 2), TSP3553Y (CPE Advanced 1), and TSP3554Y (CPE Advanced 2). Students in TST advanced degree programs who take the advanced units should register in TSP6553Y (CPE Advanced 1 for AD students) and TSP6554Y (CPE Advanced 2 for AD students).
CPE courses are offered at both the basic and advanced level. Normally, a student must complete two units at the basic level before taking and advanced level course. Units may be offered as full-time, extended (part-time), and as intensive residencies.

Year-long residency programmes are designed for those who want to upgrade their skills in spiritual care giving or are preparing themselves for full-time spiritual care, working toward Spiritual Care Specialist certification with CASC (Canadian Association for Spiritual Care). A prerequisite for this programme is at least one Basic unit of CPE.
The University Health Network offers a CPE Residency Program comprised of four separate courses - one basic course (12 weeks) and two advanced levels (12 weeks each) and a consolidation unit (12 weeks) - that run consecutively over the year. Students wishing to complete an entire year’s residency should apply for all four residency courses. The costs of the fourth course are assumed by UHN and not by the student. Continuation in the program is dependent upon successful completion of each separate unit.
