Extended & Full Time CPE
Registration & Fees

The course application form and the address to which it may be sent can be found on the course information page. You must apply to the specific teaching centre where the course is given.

Note that you may only apply for advanced level units if you have first successfully completed two basic level units of CPE. Students applying to take CPE Extended or Full-time units will need to include:

  • Information about previous units of CPE and PCE (Pastoral Counselling Education) you have completed.
  • The name and contact information of two references, at least one of whom is from your denomination or faith group.
  • An autobiographical sketch equivalent to 2-3 pages in length including the following information:
  1. Answer the question, "How have you become who you are today and who has been significant in that journey including: formative persons; important health factors; significant educational experiences; occupational experiences and their meaning in your life; spiritual / religious formation; and, values and commitment.
  2. Why are you interested in taking Clinical Pastoral Education?
  3. Personal definition of the pastoral function and the areas of struggle for you presently, both theological and pastoral.
  4. State your reasons, hopes and purpose for taking this unit of CPE. Outline your main goals.
  • Once you have been admitted to the CPE unit by the teaching supervisor, please contact a TST college as soon as possible in order to apply as a special student and register or, if you are already a TST student, to register for the unit. If you are not already a TST student, you may choose to apply to any TST college in order to register for the CPE unit. Admissions contact persons are listed here.
  • Payment instructions should be sought from the registrar of your college of registration. The tuition for one CPE unit is two times the TST course fee. Please refer to the TST Tuition Fee Schedule.

  • Students registered for CPE units are bound by the TST college’s academic and financial deadlines and policies.

No evaluation or certification will be issued to a student whose fees have not been paid.

CPE Residency Programs
Registration & Fees

Note that you may only apply for the residency program if you have first successfully completed at least one basic level unit of CPE.

The Residency Program is now comprised of three separate courses – one at the basic level and two at the advanced level – that run consecutively over the year. Student wishing to complete an entire year’s residency should apply for all three residency courses in the teaching centre of choice. Continuation in the program is dependent upon successful completion of each separate unit.

Students applying to take CPE Residency Program will need to include:

  • Information about previous units of CPE and PCE (Pastoral Counselling Education) you have completed.
  • The name and contact information of three references. The reference persons to be listed on this application should be people who know you as a person and minister, and who can comment knowledgeably on you character, your nature and pastoral functioning, including your capacity to learn.
  • An official denominational/faith group endorsement.
  • An autobiographical sketch including the following information:
  1. Personal History: A history of your life to date answering the question, "How have you become who you are today and who has been significant in that journey" including: formative persons; spiritual / religious formation; and, values and commitment.
  2. Vocation: Describe your work experience, indicating titles and dates, beginning with the last as the first entry; your sense of vocation of ministry and your personal statement of belief and concept of ministry.
  3. Professional Goals: State your reasons, hopes and purpose for a year of CPE. State as specifically as you know to date what your learning needs are; state your goals and what you want to become. Include what you would like to be in five years.
  4. Evaluations: A copy of your and your supervisors' evaluations for all units of training completed during the past five years (to be sent by mail or delivered to the TIPE office).
  5. Specific Information: Please include further information about yourself which would provide further insight as to who you are as a person in ministry.

PCE Programs
Registration & Fees

Please inquire directly to the Toronto Centre for Pastoral Education (tcpce @ cpe-pce.ca) for up-to-date registration information, course details, and application procedures. The following information is provided for reference purposes only.

You may only apply for advanced level PCE units if you have first successfully completed two basic level units of PCE. Students applying to take PCE units will need to include:

  • Information about previous units of CPE and PCE (Pastoral Counselling Education) you have completed.
  • The name and contact information of two references, at least one of whom is from your denomination or faith group and one from a theological college (if appropriate).
  • An autobiographical sketch equivalent to 2-3 pages in length including the following information.:
  1. Answer the question, "How have you become who you are today and who has been significant in that journey including: formative persons; important health factors; significant educational experiences; occupational experiences and their meaning in your life; spiritual / religious formation; and, values and commitment.
  2. Why are you interested in taking Pastoral Counselling Education?
  • The total cost of the program is $2600 per unit:
  • Upon acceptance to the program, a non-refundable deposit of $500 (applicable to tuition) is required to secure a place, prior to the start of the program.
  • Prior to the start of each semester of the program, the balance is due as follows: $800 on the first day of the course in September and $1300 on the first day of the course in January.
  • In the event of an NSF cheque, bank charges will be the responsibility of the student.
  • The Toronto Centre for Pastoral Education will refund $700 of the fall tuition provided the student withdraws within the first four weeks of the unit; $700 of the winter tuition fee provided the student withdraws by the end of January. No refund will be given after these deadlines.
